Celtic Trinity Triquetra Drop Earrings
Triquetra (IPA: [tɹaɪ'kwεtɹə]) is a word derived from the Latin tri- (“three”) and quetrus (“cornered”). Its original meaning was simply “triangle” and it has been used to refer to various three-cornered shapes. Nowadays, it has come to refer exclusively to a certain more complicated shape formed of three vesicae piscis, sometimes with an added circle in or around it.

The Triquetra is an ancient symbol used to represent the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This appropriation was particularly easy because the triquetra conveniently incorporated three shapes that could be interpreted as Christian Ιχθυς symbols. A common representation of the symbol is with a circle that goes through the three interconnected loops in the Triquetra. The circle emphasizes that through the combination of the three elements, a ‘whole’ is created, and the latter is influenced by each of the elements. It stresses unity, which is one of the most fundamental ideas of Christianity. Created using intertwined Celtic knot work, these earrings are a lovely and elegant way to express your faith.

Jade is an ornamental stone. The term jade is applied to two different rocks that are made up of different silicate minerals. Nephrite jade consists of the calcium- and magnesium-rich amphibole mineral actinolite (aggregates of which also make up one form of asbestos). The rock called jadeitite consists almost entirely of jadeite, a sodium- and aluminium-rich pyroxene. The trade name Jadite is sometimes applied to translucent/opaque green glass.

The English word ‘jade’ is derived from the Spanish term piedra de ijada (first recorded in 1565) or ‘loin stone’, from its reputed efficacy in curing ailments of the loins and kidneys. ‘Nephrite’ is derived from lapis nephriticus, the Latin version of the Spanish piedra de ijada.

Jade is a symbol of purity and serenity, and is associated with your heart chakra. Jade is good for emotional balance, confidence and grounding. Jade Guan Yin Goddesses dangle from hand wrapped cords and a round jade bead. Guan Yin is known as the Chinese Bodhisattva of Compassion and is usually depicted as a woman. Guan Yin is believed to help with healing and look after mothers, children and babies. Each pair is unique and different, cord color and stone variation will vary. Earrings measure 2″ x 3/8″

‘Bo Tree Leaf’ Earrings – Buddhist Earrings

It was in the shade of the bo, or bodhi tree, that Buddha achieved enlightenment. The Bodhi Tree, also known as Bo (from the Sinhalese Bo), was a large and very old Sacred Fig tree, located in Bodh Gaya (about 100 km/62 mi from Patna in the Indian state of Bihar) under which Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher and founder of Buddhism later known as Gautama Buddha, achieved enlightenment, or Bodhi. In religious iconography, the Bodhi tree is easily recognizable from its heart-shaped leaves, which are usually prominently displayed. It is of the species sacred fig (ficus religiosa).

The term “Bodhi tree” is also widely applied to currently existing trees, particularly the Sacred Fig growing at the Mahabodhi Temple, which is probably a direct descendant of the original specimen. This tree is a frequent destination for pilgrims, being the most important of the four holy sites for Buddhists. Other holy Bodhi trees which have a great significance in the history of Buddhism are the Anandabodhi tree in Sravasti and the Bodhi tree in Anuradhapura. Both are believed to have been propagated from the original Bodhi tree.

Known in Thailand as pipal leaves.
